Privacy Policy

Last updated July 15, 2026

Wento Travel (“Wento,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you map travel memories—photos, videos, places, and notes—and share them with people who were there. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use wentotravel.com and related services (the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google according to your Google account settings.

Trip content you provide. This includes trip titles, dates, descriptions, photos, videos, map pins, places, captions, notes, annotations, and people you add or tag. Photos and videos may contain metadata such as capture date or location if that data is present in the files you upload.

Sharing and invitations. When you invite others, we process email addresses you provide, invitation status (sent, opened, accepted, revoked, expired), and share-link activity needed to operate guest view and traveler invite features.

Usage and technical data. We collect information needed to run the Service, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and error logs. We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, and session management.

2. How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure
  • Store and display your trips, media, and map data
  • Send transactional emails (for example trip invitations, guest view links, and password resets)
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and debug technical issues

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How sharing works on Wento

You control trip visibility. Depending on your settings, a trip may be:

  • Private — visible only to you and travelers you have invited on Wento
  • By invitation — visible to you, invited travelers, and guest viewers you email a view-only link
  • Public — visible to anyone with the trip link

When you share a trip or send an invite, the recipients you choose can see the content you share according to the access level you grant (view-only guest link, mirror, copy, or collaborate). You can revoke guest links and pending invitations from trip settings.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share photos, videos, and personal data about others before uploading or inviting people.

4. Third-party services

We use trusted providers to operate Wento. Depending on how you use the Service, data may be processed by:

  • Google — for optional “Sign in with Google” and, when you link a place, Google Places information shown in the app. Google’s use of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • MailerSend — to deliver invitation and account-related emails we send on your behalf.
  • Stripe — to process subscription and one-time payments when you purchase a paid plan. Stripe receives payment card details and billing information you provide at checkout. Stripe’s use of data is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
  • MapLibre / map tile providers — to render maps. Map requests may include general location context needed to display tiles.

These providers process data only as needed to perform their services for us, subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and trip content while your account is active. If you delete photos, videos, trips, or your account, we remove or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information for legal, security, or backup purposes.

Guest view and traveler invite links may expire automatically after the period you select (or after a default period for certain invite types). Revoked links stop providing access.

6. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update profile and security settings in your account, adjust trip privacy in trip settings, and revoke shares or invitations at any time.

To make a privacy request, please contact us. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children

Wento is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps designed to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-app notice where appropriate.
